Hello there - I just have to be very British and mention the weather - isn't it hot today! There, now with that out of the way I can carry on with today's news. Since last writing we've had two more party bookings so we're really pleased about that. We've had another booking for this Saturday and so that takes us to a total of 3 parties this week, 2 of them being on Saturday so that will be cool. 2 parties are bag making parties and one on Saturday evening is purely pampering! Lovely! The nice thing about this weather is that we can do some of our parties outdoors and that is great. Mum has made stacks of little bags on her sewing machine now that the ancient machine is working again (sorry mum, that's the machine not you). They are great so thanks mum but don't leave the sewing machine just yet as dad still needs a new pair of flares! This morning I have been down to the business centre again, I'll soon have a seat with a plaque on down there and that's no joke, I'm only one visit away from getting my own mug! They are helping us to find out how to get some of the little kits we sell (pictured above) in to the local shops as they have been really popular in our online store www.stores.ebay.co.uk/Makeover-Mates . Currently we sell Flip Flop kits and I've sold lots of batches of those across the country for people to hold their own Makeover Mates flip flop parties - perfect for the summer. Of course, buying them like that doesn't get Gemma and Me at the house but it's one way of doing the party, saying that, we sold some to the Isle of Mann last night and if anyone would like to pay our fare we have no objections going over to host the party! Mum and I are devising little bag decorating kits at the moment to sell for the same purpose and to get in to local shops. We have lots of lovely little party bags to make up for our upcoming parties and first thing tomorrow I need to go to the bakery to pick up a Bratz birthday cake that our party girl has ordered for her party tomorrow.
On a completely different subject I have been out for lunch with our Taid today. Now anyone who knows our Taid will know how comical that situation could be! He is 89 years old and smaller that a pixie but drives a huge BMW that he can hardly see over the steering wheel, actually, when he bought it he got our brother to test drive it and to drive it home and so it was only when they got the car home that they realised Taid couldn't reach the pedals!!! After much deliberation they decided to put blocks on the pedals so he could reach - can you get the picture!? Now, I hadn't realised, not having been in the car with him for ages that he is almost unable to drive in a straight line and feared for my life all the way down to town as he drove on the wrong side of the road. Anyhow, as luck would have it we made it to the first hotel that he'd chosen, then after much embarrasing discussion decided that it was too expensive there - fair enough, off we trotted to the next one, admiring the view of Llandudno harbour along the way. The next hotel turned out to be ok price wise and actually the food was delicious but there was so much of it. Taid then decided that we could take the leftovers home wrapped in a serviette for my tea! He started rolling chips and onion rings up in a serviette as though he had been practising for the moment all his life and started stuffing it in to my pockets. Well, I was way to full and hot to fight him off by this point but the final straw came when he shouted , as I walked away from the table, "Dawn, come back, there's a basket full of Mayonnaise sachets here that you haven't taken, you must have room for these - they'll come in handy for you now you're not working" ! I made a very hasty retreat and hid on the prom whilst he paid the bill, he then met me on the prom and plonked about 20 sachets in my hand!! Thank God he'd left the basket behind at least. Half way home he realised he'd forgotten to put his seat belt on so decided to let go of the steering wheel completely to put it on and I actually had to grab the steering wheel and move the car out of the path of an oncoming truck delivering to B&Q. By the time we got home I was stuffed full of food, was carrying handfuls of mayonnaise and was shaking like a jelly. Never again.... However, guess what Tom will be having for tea later!!! Take care everyone love Dawn xx Makeover Mates 01492 573432
